App not opening?

macOS shows this for apps from developers outside Apple's paid program. Here's how to open it.

  1. 1. You'll see this message the first time. Click Done, not Move to Bin.

  2. 2. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security and click Open Anyway.

  3. 3. Click Open Anyway once more, then confirm with your Mac password or Touch ID. That's it, you only do this once.

Listen or Capture not working?

ClueCat AI needs your permission in macOS to see your screen and hear your meeting. Here's how to turn it on.

  1. 1. The first time, macOS shows a popup: “ClueCat AI would like to record this computer's screen and audio.” Click Open System Settings, not Deny. If you missed it, open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Screen & System Audio Recording.

  2. 2. If ClueCat AI isn't in the list, click the + below the list, choose Applications, select ClueCat AI and click Open.

  3. 3. Turn on the switch next to ClueCat AI, then quit and reopen the app. macOS only applies this after a restart.

  4. 4. Seeing No mic? Click Allow if macOS asks for the microphone. Otherwise, go back to Privacy & Security, open Microphone and turn on ClueCat AI. If it isn't listed, press Start in Listen mode so macOS asks you first.

Paste this into the Terminal app. It installs ClueCat AI for you, with no warning to click through.

Set up Listen mode

Nothing to install. Press Start in Listen mode and allow Screen Recording and Microphone when macOS asks. Then quit and reopen ClueCat AI once. If something isn't working, use Listen or Capture not working? above.

On macOS older than 14.2, Listen needs the free audio driver BlackHole 2ch. Install it, create a Multi-Output Device with your speakers and BlackHole in Audio MIDI Setup, set it as your sound output, then choose BlackHole 2ch in ClueCat AI.

Updates

When a new version is out, an Update button appears in the app and brings you back to this page. Install it the same way. macOS may ask you to allow Microphone and Screen Recording again.
